Helgin Roller Derby was founded in February 2014, by Angela ‘Aunty Acid’ Ellis, who had just moved to Elgin and was looking to meet new people and have fun while doing it. Having always been a fan of roller derby, she decided that starting a team in Elgin was the best way to do this. Angela used social media to garner interest, and by November 2014, five people were skating at Bishopmill Hall every Sunday evening.
We have since held a number of Taster Sessions and now boast a group of around twenty members, who train at Moray Sports Centre on Mondays. Our skaters are improving every session, and we hope to have a team competing in 2020.
