Helgin Roller Derby was founded in February 2014, by Angela ‘Aunty Acid’ Ellis, who had just moved to Elgin and was looking to meet new people and have fun while doing it. Having always been a fan of roller derby, she decided that starting a team in Elgin was the best way to do this. Angela used social media to garner interest, and by November 2014, five girls were skating at Bishopmill Hall every Sunday evening.
We have since held a number of Fresh Meat Intake Sessions and now boast a group of over twenty members, who train at Elgin Community Centre on Saturday afternoons. Our skaters are improving every session, and we hope to have a team competing in 2017.
