Skater Spotlight: April 2018

Spring has sprung (here’s hoping it sticks this time), and we’ve rolled right into April, so it’s time to introduce you to another of our fantastic skaters.

April is her birthday month, so who better to find out a bit more about this month than the beautiful derby barbie, herself, #235 Blonde Rambition

What is your day job?
Brand Home Assistant at Glenlivet Distillery.

What do you do for fun (other than derby)?
Sing, play the piano & guitar, hangout with my family, boyfriend and dogs.

What is your dream holiday destination?
The Dominican Republic (going in June YAAAAY).

What is your specialist skill? (On skates or off)
Being light on my feet and using my toe stops whilst jamming.

What attracted you to join roller derby?
I loved the film Whip It and thought “I would really enjoy doing that” and I was right!

What’s your top tip for those just starting roller derby?
Always try your hardest and set personal goals, don’t be afraid to really throw yourself into something.

Which derby player do you look up to/ most aspire to be like?
I could list some famous names but I honestly look up to all the girls in Helgin the most. Melicious Intent, Shannibal Lecter, Mane-iac, Night-Mair, High Skatenance, Kathital Punishment, Dead or Red – just everyone. They bring so much to it and there’s things everyone does that I aspire to be able to do.

One positive thing roller derby has brought to your life:
Friendship.

What is your proudest derby moment to date?
Passing my laps and playing in the rising stars game in Glasgow and playing our game against Perth.

Roller derby to you, in three words:
Laughs, bruises, accomplishment
