Five Helgin Skaters had a brilliant time helping Glasgow Roller Derby celebrate their 10th Birthday at ARC Health and Fitness today!
Blonde Rambition and Melicious Intent joined team black in the Cherry Popper bout, taking on team yellow which included (not so) friendly faces Kathital Punishment and Shannibal Lecter!
Melicious Intent popped her captaincy cherry and lead team black to victory, while Blonde Rambition scored herself the Best Jammer award in her first ever game! Kathital Punishment and Shannibal Lecter soaked up the atmosphere and also had a great first bout, working together with their team to keep the score fairly level.
Maple Grief upped her game and took on the Co-ed bout, playing alongside players from A teams across the country as well as players from the National squads. She really held her own out on the track and put on an impressive display, inspiring her Helgin team-mates to work hard and get over their fears of both Co-ed bouts and playing against such highly-experienced skaters.
Many Happy Returns to Glasgow Roller Derby – here’s to many more birthdays! We hope Helgin can be as successful as Glasgow by our 10th birthday!
